Topic: How EMC is leveraging Social Network Analysis as a Strategic Asset

As leaders manage their organizations, many fail to take into account the social networks that are the backbone of all collaboration and information flow. At EMC, we have applied Social Network Analysis (SNA) in a number of critical projects to help our leaders make better decisions; from succession planning to troubleshooting virtual team collaboration, SNA has enabled EMC's managers to leverage the power of their existing networks to more quickly meet customer and market demands.

Vicente Moranta is a Competitive Business Consultant at EMC Corporation where over the past eleven years he has held several New Product Development roles in support, engineering and marketing. In addition, Vicente is a Lecturer in Executive Education Programs and a Research Associate in Innovation Management and Technology Commercialization Lab at NC State University, focusing on Social Network Analysis used to improve Collaboration, Management of Technology and Organizational Culture. Vicente holds a BS in Computer Engineering ('99) and an MBA ('08) both from North Carolina State University.

About EMC: Second only to your people, your information is your organization's most important asset. EMC provides the technologies and tools that can help you release the power of your information. And with these infrastructures, you'll be able to intelligently and efficiently store, protect, and manage your information so that it can be made accessible, searchable, shareable, and, ultimately, actionable. In short, with an information infrastructure, you can avoid the potentially serious risks and reduce the significant costs associated with managing information, while fully exploiting its value for business advantage.
