Topic: INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR ANTI-PARASITIC DRUG DISCOVERY, Presented by SCYNEXIS
SCYNEXIS is a drug discovery and development company located in Research Triangle Park. SCYNEXIS has a long-standing commitment to the discovery of anti-parasitic drugs for Human Health (Neglected Tropical Diseases), Animal Health and Public Health. To achieve this SCYNEXIS has developed a state-of-the art-platform to allow for the assessment of chemical libraries against over 30 parasite species relevant to global health. SCYNEXIS has targeted Biotechs as rich sources of innovation for evaluation of anti-parasitic activity. SCYNEXIS has a proven track record of success in the identification of chemical series with anti-parasitic properties that are currently being evaluated in animal and human clinical studies. This experience has allowed SCYNEXIS to create an innovative business model that builds potential partnerships between Biotechs and Human Health, Animal Health and Public Health organizations. Kerrie Powell, Business Development Director, Integrated Parasitology Kerrie Powell joined SCYNEXIS in 2003. She was previously employed by Aventis CropScience and Bayer CropScience in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina as a molecular biologist in the Insect Genomics group. Powell joined SCYNEXIS to establish the parasitology screening platforms for the company’s animal health business collaborations and in 2006 became Animal Health Biology Manager. In this role, she continued to expand the company’s Integrated Parasitology platform. In 2012, she became the Director of Business Development for the Integrated Parasitology Business Unit. Powell received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Florida.
